We’ve seen any number of photos of the exterior of the Hollywood Hotel so I was pleased to see this rare interior shot. The rugs rather surprised me – they look more like something out of Santa Fe.

A twofer! Grauman’s Chinese theater AND the Hollywood Hotel IN color! My guess is that this was taken early-to-mid 1950s as the hotel fell under the wrecking ball in 1956.

The Hollywood Hotel on the corner of Hollywood and Highland as seen from the air (the Goodyear blimp maybe?) in the 1930s. It looks like there is a large white tent covering the lot to the west.
