Hollywood Blvd, 1937 showing Kress five-and-ten store

Hollywood Blvd, 1937 showing Kress five-and-dimeHollywood Boulevard in 1937 – a shopper’s paradise, anchored by Kress Five and Ten on the right hand side (south side of the street), which would later be home to the infamous “Fredericks of Hollywood” (naughty lingerie shipped in a plain brown wrapper so your neighbors will never guess what your husband will see tonight!) Oh, and don’t you love the street lamp in the foreground?

I am really thankful for pics like these as I love slice-of-life natural shots showing life back in the Golden Age. I sure wish it still looked like this. And yes, I DO love the street lamp and everything about this pic, Martin!
