Denel’s Music Shop stood at 6634 Hollywood Boulevard and sold everything: players, pianos, instruments and records. Remember them? Remember the days when you actually went into a bricks and mortar store to buy music? God knows I love my iPod but it just isn’t the same, is it?
My father left many records to my son when he passed away. I’ve been recording them to CD for him. I noticed many of the records had a sticker on them for Denels Music Shop. He grew up in the LA area. It was nice to see this picture posted and others as my grandfather had destroyed all family photos right before he died. It gave me a chance to see what life was like for my dad growing up in LA. I wanted to send you a picture of the Denels Music Shop label, but I cannot do that thru this site.
I’m so glad I’m finding info on this store: I just bought a yellow colored record from a record shop here in Las Vegas. The label reads The Music Shop 6634 Hollywood HI. 5134 / also 947 Westwood W. LA 3000. I played the record on my 78 player!!! its a man singing what sounds like Italian Opera. The label is faded but I can make out the word Prayer or Profit or Prayer probita? anyway I’m so glad I found info on the store!! I wonder who this record booth recordist was? Ann in Vegas. mymac2011@gmail.com
