A number of Hollywood biographies and memoirs mention George Cukor’s home as being one of the great social centers of Hollywood social life—especially the almost-legendary poolside Sunday brunches he would put on. But this is the first time I’ve actually seen a shot of Cukor’s pool. It’s actually not quite as roomy as I pictured, but is lovely nonetheless. I’m guessing that pool house on the far side was the one he’d often make available to visiting VIPs, like Somerset Maugham.
