This shot of the Hollywood Hotel (at the corner of Hollywood and Highland) is dated March 10, 1956, which means the grand old lady of Hollywood was only five months away from being razed. In real life, I guess it looked shabbier than it does in this photo, but it sure doesn’t look like it deserved to be demolished into oblivion. What a shame they couldn’t find a way to keep standing, huh?
ONE OF MANY BUILDING THAT SHOULD OF BEEN RESTORED, THERE SHOULD OF BEEN A ORGANIZATION TO HELP PROTECT THESE LANDMARKS,IT REALLY MUST BE ABOUT GREED AND SOULLESS PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT NOTHING BUT PROFIT…IT MAKES ME SICK. DENIEL EDWARDS.
I have such deep affection for this grand ole gal. Everytime I see a pic, I feel like I’m at home. I undoubtedly had something to do with her in a previous Hollywood life (most likely in the ’30s!)
Martin has shared so many wonderful photos of the Hollywood Hotel. This is one of my favorites. Who wouldn’t love to relax in one of the porch swings and take in the passing foot and street traffic?

How very true, Deniel. How I feel exactly!
