In this photo, we’re seeing Charlie Chaplin survey the department store set for “The Floorwalker” (1916) at the studio on Cole Ave in Hollywood, where he filmed his Mutual shorts and later Buster Keaton made his. All this is interesting enough, but look at the far right and you’ll see a typical house for that time and place. Can you imagine looking out your living room window and watching Chaplin do thing? That house stood at 1022 Cole Ave. It was later torn down to make way for the Technicolor Building, which still stands today, albeit as a Gold’s Gym.
