"Light on Parade” festivities celebrating the arrival of electrical power generated by Hoover Dam, Broadway, downtown Los Angeles, 1936I thought yesterday’s post with two searchlights was impressive but get a load of this! It’s the “Light on Parade” festivities celebrating the 1936 arrival of electrical power generated by Hoover Dam. More than one million people descended upon downtown to partake in a parade that stretched from City Hall to Olympic Boulevard. That night, Broadway was nicknamed “The Canyon of Lights” and we can see why!
