Wilshire Blvd, west of Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, January 1933

Wilshire Blvd, west of Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, January 1933Isn’t it odd to think Wilshire Blvd ever looked like this? This shot of Wilshire was taken west of Fairfax Ave in January 1933 when, clearly, they hadn’t even started building along Wilshire yet. Those white buildings on the right are built along Orange St but Wilshire Blvd is one big long empty lot!

The current view from the Wilshire/Fairfax corner:

No more white buildings (at least in the “today” shot) Just think – this is what our beloved stars of the early Golden Age saw and probably never gave one thought to how congested these spacious streets would one day become!

    Thanks, Martin.
