Yesterday I posted a wonderful photo of Hollywood Boulevard in the 1940s during Christmas at night. This one is almost the same view, taken in 1946, but during the daytime. What a shame the boulevard is no longer decorated with these festive trees. They’re pretty day and night—even though the painted snow on their branches seems a little incongruous in a city that’s usually clear, bright, and sunny on Christmas day.
Let’s face it, the architecture was prettier and the city was more personable. In short, the good ole days really were the good old days!! Thanks for this nice photo, Martin.

Beautiful shot! Looks like a postcard or painting, doesn’t it?
Here’s more Christmas pics taken in Hollywood/LA from back when the holiday season meant decorating! I especially like the 1940s Sunset Plaza shot.
