Dolores Drive-in restaurant near Wilshire Blvd and La Cienega Blvd, Beverly Hills, 1957This photo of the Dolores Drive-in near the northwest corner of Wilshire Blvd and La Cienega Blvd shows us LA’s drive-in restaurant culture as it was reaching its zenith. I would have loved the chance to wolf down a cheeseburger, slurp a chocolate thick shake, and shove a handful of Suzie Q fries while sitting in one of those roomy gas guzzlers we can see here!

Technically, Dolores was at 8531 Wilshire, which put it on the corner of Le Doux Road. But it looks like there was a Richfield gas station right next door – how convenient!

As a Los Angeles native of sufficient age, since my father’s office was nearby, I can report that I remember it well and ate there frequently.

OMG! We went to that Dolores Drive-In almost every day after school (BHHS). As I recall, we could get our Driver’s License at age 13 or 14 – hot shit! Love always, M&M

Best Drive-In Ever. Burger, Susie Q fries, Cherry Lime Riki and Fudge covered Ice Cream cake. My childhood memories were made with Delores ?

My dad took us to the drive-in a number of times, it was probably around 1954, I was 9. Loved their bar-b-queued ribs with that tangy sauce and curly fry’s. I had my own tray sitting in the back seat of the car. Simply the best. Sorry time marches on.

Best Boston Cream pie and navy bean soup. Wish I had the recipes!

There was one on the north corner of Washington Bl. and Sepulveda Bl. in Culver City. I assume they were related but I can’t find any dates on the lifespan of the Culver City location. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
