When Patsy D’Amore moved his popular Italian restaurant from McCadden St in Hollywood to a larger, plusher building a few blocks away at 6735 Yucca, one block north of Hollywood Blvd, it was such a big deal that the opening was televised. That may have something to do with the fact that Frank Sinatra was one of his most frequent customers. That’s his Thunderbird parked out front because when your Sinatra, you get to park wherever you want.
Louella Parsons was seated in the booth next to Frank Sinatra:
That whole area is now filled with apartment blocks. This image is from January 2021
I just started reading Joel Selvin’s Hollywood Eden, about the Los Angeles rock ‘n’ roll scene in the late 1950s that was centered around University High School in West Los Angeles. He mentions that Frank Sinatra gave his daughter Nancy, who attended Uni, a brand new pink 1957 Thunderbird. Looking at the car in this photo, I can’t help wondering if Dad borrowed his daughter’s car for his evening out.
No Bill, That bird is a 56 not a 57. Does look like a pink one.
Is this the restaurant than James Dean went to often?
No. Villa Capri that Dean went to was on McCadden. The Villa moved to Yucca in 1957. I am not aware of any outdoor photos of McCadden Villa but I have seen photos of Dean inside the McCadden Villa.
