Mocambo nightclub, Sunset Blvd, 1941
The Mocambo nightclub in 1942. The South American-themed Mocambo was one of the major nightclubs at the center of Hollywood’s social scene—the Sunset Strip. It came along at the peak of the popularity of the nightclubs—the 1940s—when anything connected with South America was viewed as exotic, outlandish and yes, just a little bit naughty.
