My fifth book – due out January 2016 – is set in Hollywood in 1946 & ’47 against the backdrop of the House un-American Activities Committee. In my research for it, I came across this HUAC document, dated September 21, 1948 which attempts to prove Communist influence in Hollywood movies. While I haven’t seen any of these movies myself, you have to wonder if they were perhaps grabbing at straws to include a Deanna Durbin movie…
