Looking east up Wilshire Boulevard from Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, 1920

Looking east up Wilshire Boulevard from Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, 1920It’s hard to believe now, but if you were driving east along Wilshire Boulevard from the Fairfax Ave intersection in 1920, this would have been your view. Today, that stretch has the old May Company building, LACMA, the Petersen Automotive Museum and LA Tar Pits, but back then, it had a tree and an oil well. And plenty of places to park!

  1. This pic of Wilshire Blvd & Fairfax is unbelievable (Though I know accurate) because we moved to LA in late 1937-early 1938 and the change in less than 20 years is amazing. Reminds me of the San Fernando Valley right after WW II. Happy Funday, love, L
