Night shot of Vine Street looking north from the Sunset Blvd corner.
Here’s a very ‘film noir’ shot – this is Vine Street in Hollywood looking north from the Sunset Boulevard corner. We can see both the NBC and CBS studios, Wallich’s Music City, The Broadway department store, and the Plaza Hotel. … Continue reading

On Dave DeCaro’s Daveland blog (http://bit.ly/ZiQ7RF) I found this great shot of the old Hollywood Hotel, which occupied the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave from 1903 to 1956. In all the photos I’ve seen of this place, I’ve … Continue reading

After Alla Nazimova opened the Garden of Allah Hotel, then went bankrupt over it and was forced to sell her share, the hotel went through a couple of management changes, and had a bit of a relaunch. This ad is … Continue reading
Wilshire Boulevard, looking west from Lafayette Park
The right sort of clouds can really make a photograph pop, can’t it? I don’t have a date on this one, and I’m not even sure what the photographer was standing on when he took this shot of Wilshire Blvd … Continue reading
Interior garden court of the Hollywood Hotel, Hollywood Blvd
You don’t have to look too hard to find photos of the exterior of the old Hollywood Hotel, which sat on the corner of Hollywood and Highland from 1903 to 1956. In fact, you’ll find a bunch of them on … Continue reading
